Buy New Or Upgrade Your Bike? | GMBN Discusses The Pros And Cons

One of the most frequent questions we get asked in the comments is whether you should buy a new mountain bike or upgrade your current one. So this video is here to help. We weigh up the pros and cons of each option, which upgrades make the biggest difference, and the tipping point at which it makes sense to buy a new bike.

The most worthwhile upgrades are: wheels and tyres, these are your point of contact with the trail and their rotational mass makes a huge difference to how you bike handles. Forks, better suspension results in more control, dampers and springs can also be upgraded rather than the entire chassis. Finally contact points, your grips, saddle, and pedals are all personal preference and help to make your bike your own. However, all of this may add up to close to the cost of a new bike. Something to consider when making your decision.
